Mental Health Law is a highly specialised area of law. AH Solicitors are proud of our growing Mental Health Law Department. It is an area of law that we are passionate about.
We assist those suffering from mental health problems who are being detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.
We feel that we give a high level of service and care to our clients and also their family members when required. We realise that this is an extremely troubling time for our clients and their families.
Persons detained under the Mental Health Act are eligible for free legal advice and assistance. We can visit a person at any hospital.
Please do not hesitate to contact us and a specialist solicitor will return your call.
If you are being held in hospital under the Mental Health Act and you have any questions about your treatment or you wish to apply to the Mental Health Tribunal to be discharged from the hospital then we can help.
If you have been released from hospital but have to comply with the conditions of a Community Treatment Order then you are also entitled to apply to the Tribunal to have the Community Treatment Order discharged. You will be automatically eligible for legal aid, which is free of charge.
If you are the nearest relative of a patient being held under the Mental Health Act then you have important rights including the right to insist on the discharge of a patient, and if this is blocked by the hospital then you can apply to the Mental Health Tribunal. Legal aid is freely available to represent patients before the Mental Health Tribunal. Call one of our Solicitors for further advice.
